I have a report I don’t understand

Paste the text of the report as it is, and we’ll pick out the terms we explain: what they mean in plain words, how doctors use them, what the phrase alone can’t tell you, and a question for your doctor.

Explaining a report is not a diagnosis. What a result means depends on your symptoms, your examination and the whole medical picture, and that is your doctor’s job.

This runs in your browser only: the text isn’t sent to any server and isn’t saved. Even so, you may want to remove names and hospital numbers before pasting.

What this does, and what it doesn’t

It does:

  • Find the known terms in the text.
  • Explain each one in plain language.
  • Suggest a question for your doctor.

It doesn’t:

  • Look at the images themselves.
  • Decide whether a result is serious or minor.
  • Know your symptoms or examination.

The list grows over time. If your report has a word we haven’t explained, send it to us: contact@thetract.org

I’m here for…

We put first what matters for the person you’re reading for. Your choice stays in this browser only, and we never ask about a diagnosis.
